Happy Hues is a new Black-owned baby and toddler care company tackling inclusivity. Representation is a growing priority for new parents and this baby brand created by Millennial mom Eunique Jones Gibson is doing it right. She realized the majority of the pull-ups her daughter was wearing included characters or designs that didn’t represent her or her culture, and cites research that shows “as early as six months a baby’s brain can recognize race-based differences and by ages 2-4 they can internalize racial bias.” To change this, Happy Hues is gearing up to “launch a plant-derived training pants collection called Big-Ups with inclusive and sustainable designs, interactive animations, and a social impact model.” Each character featured on the product will come in a range of skin colors. The Big-Ups are available on the brand’s website for a one-time purchase price for under $20 or a subscription option. (Essence)
