Synthetic influencers are getting their own TV show thanks to a new Amazon deal. YPulse’s Metaverse trend report found that over a quarter of young consumers are interested in following a computer-generated influencer on social media—and now they’re coming to TV. Superplastic, a startup that creates synthetic influencers and characters, has raised $20 million led by Amazon’s Alexa Fund. To reach young consumers, Superplastic is going to be working with Amazon Studios on an animated comedy series. These synthetic characters (like Janky and Guggimon) are already social media celebrities and now The Janky & Guggimon Show “will follow the dynamic duo’s misadventures as they chase one chaotic get-rich-quick scheme after another” along with a cast of other synthetic celebrities.
