While single moms who have stopped working often struggle to stay afloat, some are finding a sense of relief in spending more time with their kids. YPulse’s Parenting survey found that 35% of Millennial parents say they’re single parents, and according to the U.S. census, there are more than 10M single-parent households in America and a large majority are single mothers. As the Great Resignation blossomed in 2020, a growing number of parents quit their jobs, including these single moms. And despite this bringing on more challenges like navigating “child care, health insurance, and financial concerns largely on their own,” some moms are choosing to look at the positives and are better connecting with their children because of it. Some moms who’ve quit their jobs and spend more time with their children are noticing their academic performances improving and are able to address their kids’ needs that they may have missed while working longer hours.
