Meanwhile, the number of stay-at-home dads in the U.K. is higher than ever. According to the Office for National Statistics, currently “one in nine [fathers] report their job as being a stay-at-home dad – a rise of 34 per cent in just three years.” The trend began during the pandemic but is continuing to accelerate as more dads find that their employers aren’t keeping up with the times. Many fathers are leaving the workforce altogether. A study by the campaign group Pregnant Then Screwed found that in the U.K., “eight in 10 fathers felt their employers were still not doing enough to support family life for their employees.” YPulse’s parenting data shows that 18% of dads in Western Europe say they stay at home with their children—and it’s even higher in the U.S., with 29% reporting they’re stay-at-home dads.
