Google is creating an artificial intelligence bot that can make original music. As AI tech continues to creep into our digital lives (i.e. ChatGPT essays and digital art), it was only a matter of time before it entered the music space, too. Google is working on MusicLM., an AI app where users can “type in increasingly specific prompts noting genres and styles or even build songs based on a hummed or whistled melody” to create original music. Such a platform is already prompting quite the controversy over intellectual property theft and copyright infringement, which traditional artists are fighting to end. Nevertheless, AI is here to stay for Gen Z—and YPulse predicts it’ll become the norm for them this year. (Mashable)
