Gen Z says schools are not teaching them how to survive in a digital world. According to a global Dell Technologies survey, 44% of 18-26-year-olds say that “school only taught them very basic computing skills, while 37% said that school education (for children under age 16) didn’t prepare them with the technology skills they needed for their planned careers.” While the majority of Gen Z is already operating in digital spaces daily, they consider learning new tech to be pivotal. The study also found that 40% “consider learning new digital skills essential to future career options.” YPulse’s Self-Taught trend report shows how this gen is already using digital spaces to teach themselves something new, and since the internet changes so quickly, that they’ll need regular upkeep on digital literacy.
