Edinburgh became the 20th city in the world to sign the Plant Based Treaty. Last week, the capital of Scotland endorsed the Plant Based Treaty, becoming the first Scottish city, and the first capital in Europe, to do so. The Plant Based Treaty aims to address the environmental damage caused by today’s food system that relies heavily on animal exploitation like beef and dairy, and to drawing attention to the significant gas emissions, pollution, biodiversity loss, and water use of this industry. To achieve this, the Plant Based Treaty focuses on three principles: relinquish, redirect, and restore. YPulse research shows that young Europeans are interested in veganism, and that plant-based diets are more popular in Western Europe—happy Veganuary. (Plant Based New)
