A Gen Z British gymnast decided to retire at the age of 23 to prioritize her mental health, and her own happiness. Ellie Downie was a promising young gymnast who won several medals, and represented Great Britain in the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. But after a few years at the top level, Downie made the decision to put an end of her career at an early age because her mental health “was taking a beating.” Like many of her Gen Z peers, Downie decided to prioritize mental health over her work, and YPulse’s own data shows that mental health is one of the top reasons that Gen Z and Millennials are leaving their jobs.
