Gabriella Karefa-Johnson is Target’s newest Future Collective collaboration. As part of their “new(ish) in-house ready-to-wear label designed with a rotating crew of style influencers,” Karefa-Johnson is the program’s second participant (following Kahlana Barfield Brown) to design a fashion collection. Keeping in line with Target’s mission to incorporate “diverse points of view in fashion,” the new designs are keeping young consumers and accessibility in mind. Starting later this month and continuing on through March, over 100 pieces will be released over the course of three seasons. The initial launch will include “bodysuits, printed cardigans, denim jackets and more…[with] sizing ranges from XXS through 4XL, [and] pieces priced under $50.” YPulse’s Mass Merch Mentality trend report data shows Target is BIPOC young consumers’ third favorite place to shop.
