Hinge just announced they’re testing a higher subscription price. The dating app’s current premium subscription cost is $35 a month, but now it will be increasing to as much as $50-$60 per month. Hinge is planning on marketing the pricier tier to “highly motivated daters” who are willing to pay more for better recommendations and boost their exposure in the app. However, YPulse’s Dating & Relationships report shows that fewer young people are using dating apps to find serious relationships and 52% of 18-24-year-olds say they use dating apps for fun, or just to pass the time. And while the Match-owned app hit a “bright spot” this past quarter, Tinder is still leading the company in terms of revenue. (TechCrunch)
