Netflix’s new limited series Kaleidoscope is a hit changing the streaming game. This classic heist show stands out from the rest not necessarily for its plot, but for the order of episodes. Each episode is labeled a different color and Netflix noted that viewers can watch them in any order they wish, just watch the one titled “White” last. This has created a different viewing experience for streamers that’s unlike anything we’ve really seen before. Whether you love it or hate it, the method is altering binging habits, making viewers more engaged and part of the show—something the streaming giant is introducing more of. Some of Netflix’s other projects have attempted this before like Black Mirror with Bandersnatch and the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt special “Kimmy vs. the Reverend” as well as the animated Cat Burglar which added a trivia-game element. YPulse told you how media brands are blurring the lines between gaming and TV content and our Media Consumption report shows that 51% of young people are interested in interactive content. (NYT)
