TikTok took over short form video in 2022—and now it’s infiltrating TV with Vevo. This week, Vevo announced a new partnership with Gen Z’s favorite social platform: Trending on TikTok, a weekly TV show that will be featured on Vevo Pop in their FAST network. The show will be highlighting trending videos based around the most popular songs at the moment. TikTok has been pushing into the streaming and TV space recently, and just last week also announced that “users will be able to link to their favorite movie and TV pages on IMDb.” YPulse research shows that TikTok is catching up to Netflix as Gen Z’s top source of entertainment and our data shows that 60% are using TikTok to watch video content weekly.
