Brands sponsoring the 2022 Football World Cup are being called out due to Qatar’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws. Since Qatar was announced as the host of the 2022 World Cup, the country has come under criticism for its restrictive laws against LGBTQ+ people. And with the World Cup now underway, the debate around the LGBTQ+ cause in the country is only getting louder. First, players were banned from wearing the OneLove armband as a sign to show support of LGBTQ+ communities, then the German players covered their mouths before a game as a sign of protest of the ban, and more recently a pitch invader waved a rainbow flag at one of the games. The international LGBTQ+ ad organization All Out has now called on all brands that are sponsoring the World Cup to condemn these restrictions. (AdWeek)
