More European online daters are turning to the app Blindee for “blind dates” instead of swiping through pictures in the hope of the perfect match.

More European online daters are turning to the app Blindee for “blind dates” instead of swiping through pictures in the hope of the perfect match. Inspired by the TV show Love is Blind, Blindee was founded a few years ago in the U.K. with the aim to become the anti-hero of the dating app industry. Unlike other dating apps—filled with perfect pictures and witty descriptions from users—Blindee doesn’t let you see the person you want to date until you’ve had a three-minute conversation with them. According to co-founder Sacha Nasan, simply swiping through pictures of people “makes you judge a book by its cover,” and is not helpful when trying to find love. The swipe-apps have picked up the trend, too: Tinder recently created a blind-date feature on their app that resembles Blindee’s almost exactly. (The Guardian)
