Google is tapping Ludacris for a shoppable music video in preparation for “Black Owned Friday.”

Nov 23 2022

Google is tapping Ludacris for a shoppable music video in preparation for “Black Owned Friday.” In a new song also featuring Gen Z female rapper Flo Milli, Ludacris raps about shopping all Black even beyond this holiday season. In the music video, Ludacris uses Google to search Black-owned businesses as he journeys from store to store looking for books, jackets, and more. The video features over 100 products from 60+ Black-owned businesses and manages to highlight the many business owners, creators, and athletes behind them. Plus, there’s a second interactive version of the video where viewers can decide where Ludacris shops and help him navigate through all the options. As social and live shopping grow more popular, this new kind of experience is a unique blend of celeb marketing and entertainment shopping. YPulse’s Social and Mobile Marketing report data shows that 66% of BIPOC Gen Z and Millennials who use social media are interested in shoppable videos.
