As Gen Z questions traditional dating norms, Hinge is adding a new feature to adapt. The app found that “15 percent of its Gen-Z and queer users are interested in non-monogamy or are exploring the option.” In response, they’re adding the option for users to select their “relationship type” and feature it on their profiles. Daters can add whether they are seeking a monogamous relationship or not, and even state that they’re just figuring it out. These selections will be accompanied by the option to give further background information on their choices so users can explain why they want a certain kind of relationship if they’d like. Many dating app users complain of dating fatigue and exhaustion when preferences aren’t clearly communicated before following through on a match. YPulse’s Dating and Relationships report shows that Gen Z and Millennials are not as interested in serious relationships after burnout from “swiper fatigue.” (Mashable)
