Thanks to TikTok, there’s a ton of new parenting buzzwords circulating the internet.

Thanks to TikTok, there’s a ton of new parenting buzzwords circulating the internet. Some common terms most Millennial parents might be aware of include Helicopter Parent, described as hovering over your children and watching everything they do, as well as Gentle Parenting, a style that allows kids to develop based on their own self-guided choices. YPulse recently covered Almond Moms, where mothers are toxically particular about their kid’s eating habits, and Sittervising, where parents supervise their children from a distance while they give themselves time to relax. Some of TikTok’s newer buzzwords include Crunchy, Silky, and Scrunchy parenting: Crunchy (derived from the texture of granola), refers to natural practices like home births and breastfeeding, while Silky is the opposite style and includes hospital births and bottle feeding; and lastly Scrunchy is a combo of the two, where a parent might choose a hospital birth but use washable diapers.
