Patreon is rolling out their own video player, eliminating their need for YouTube. YPulse told you how the competition to attract online creators (with payments) is heating up among social platforms trying to emulate Patreon, Twitch, and OnlyFans. So, to entice creators and their subscribers, Patreon is moving away from their reliance on embedded video content through YouTube and created their own native video player instead. The long-awaited update was teased for about a year and gives creators the chance to upload their videos without the obstruction of ads (a big complaint among subscribers), busy comment sections, and unruly algorithms that take viewers elsewhere. By hosting their own first-party product, Patreon will be able to keep user traffic within their platform only, which is something they’ve been struggling with post-pandemic. (Tubefilter)
