Gen Z and Millennials are lying to healthcare professionals more than any other gen.

Oct 24 2022

Gen Z and Millennials are lying to healthcare professionals more than any other gen. According to a Berxi study of over 1K patients, a whopping 93% of Gen Z and 76% of Millennials admit to lying to their doctors. Yet, these gens are lying for different reasons. For example, Gen Z tends not to share their honest sexual histories while Millennials are more likely to fib about their exercise habits. They found that young people are riddled with anxiety and are fearful of judgment—even from their PCPs. Those who lie to their healthcare professionals are usually doing it out of embarrassment, shame, their own denial of the truth, fear of insurance records, or from feeling unheard by other doctors in the past. You’d think telehealth would eliminate some of these fears, but in actuality, it’s been perpetuating room for more lies, creating distance between patients and providers. YPulse research shows that currently young people are turning to social media for wellness information more than doctors. (Healthline)
