Gen Z is drastically altering their life plans because they have other things to worry about. According to Goldman Sachs’ 2022 global internship survey, 88% of their interns from 2021 said “they expected to get married or establish a formal relationship in the next 10 years,” but this year, that number dropped to only 45%. The brand theorizes that Gen Z’s desire to marry, have children, and even raise pets has plummeted significantly. To this gen, these long term goals are not in their foreseeable futures, in fact, Gen Z is (understandably) an anxious bunch, so they’re focusing on living in the now instead. Many are prioritizing building a career and becoming financially stable in a rocky job market at the moment. YPulse’s Life Milestones and Future Plans report data shows that 80% of Gen Z and Millennials agree: “I don’t care in what order life milestones were done in generations past. I will do it my own way.” (CNBC)
