Keke Palmer’s digital network, Key TV on YouTube, is supporting young, diverse creators. The Key TV channel has about 750,000 subscribers and hosts Palmer’s music videos and web series. In her introduction video titled “Key TV: 20 Years In The Making,” Palmer introduces herself as Lauren and notes how Keke is her stage name, a person she invented 20 years ago. The video moves through her acting, singing, writing, and directing career and lets viewers know that Key TV is intended to “[incubate] diverse talent across all phases of the creative process.” This means emphasizing those behind the camera, too. YPulse Celebrities and Influencers report data shows that over half of Gen Z wants to become a celebrity, but Key TV is putting emphasis on building careers in production and letting young people know that they don’t have to be on screen to be successful.
