Apple isn’t using the word “metaverse” because not everyone knows what it means, meanwhile Facebook is doing the complete opposite.

Apple isn’t using the word “metaverse” because not everyone knows what it means, meanwhile Facebook is doing the complete opposite. YPulse’s metaverse research shows that 68% of young people have never spent time in the metaverse and 11% are unsure whether they have or not. While Gen Z is more likely to play games and purchase digital goods in the metaverse, Millennials are more open to investing in it than interacting within it. But regardless, Apple is hesitant to use the buzzword. The tech giant’s CEO says “Apple avoids using the term “metaverse” because the average person doesn’t know what it is.” Instead, Apple is pushing its augmented reality tech and emphasizing that “virtual reality is not a way to ‘live your whole life.’” This is a stark contrast from Meta’s efforts, as they plan on investing $10B into the metaverse.
