One of the U.K.’s most popular banks, NatWest, announced that it will start to offer its male staff a full year of paternity leave. In the age of The Great Resignation, companies are trying hard to gauge how to best please their employees so they don’t quit, and how to attract younger generations of workers. Unhealthy work / life balance is the second top answer young employed Europeans give when asked what would make them want to leave their job. NatWest’s generous package is also intended to address inclusivity, since the one-year parental leave—half of which will be fully paid by the company—is offered to anyone in charge of a little one, regardless of their gender. This is the latest move in a general trend toward inclusivity in the workplace, and the news will be well received by Gen Z and Millennials who are passionate about this cause. YPulse found that these gens want more all-embracing culture in the workplace, and our recent WE Cause / Activism Report found that gender equality ranks No.2 in the list of causes that young Europeans are passionate about.
