Fancy moving to Barcelona? The country has joined the list of European countries taking action to attract digital talent to their shores. Like Croatia, Portugal, and Greece, Spain has promised to introduce a new visa that will allow remote workers to easily work and live in the country. No doubt that Gen Z and Millennials will welcome this new announcement by the Spanish government: our recent WE Employment and Career Goals data shows that two-thirds of 13-39-year-olds in Western Europe say that having flexible work hours and the ability to work remotely is important to them, and among this group, 30% say it is extremely important. These gens want flexibility in the workplace, and being able to work from different locations is very important to them. Indonesia made the headlines last June when announcing a tax-free digital nomad visa, betting on the fact that having people stay in their country for a longer period of time (no more one-week trip to Bali people!) will help the country move toward a “greener” future.
