Black Millennials are working to close the homeownership gap. The number of Black Millennials looking to buy homes has jumped significantly within recent years and Realtor.com shows that “between October 2017 and September 2018, Black [M]illennial buyers made up 18.5 percent of Black homebuyers, and the share jumped to 22.2 percent between October 2020 and September 2021.” Realtors are noticing the trend that more Black Millennial, and specifically female, buyers are looking for “multi-family units or investment properties.” BIPOC homebuyers are feeling more empowered than ever and are taking advantage of banks who are offering more down payment assistance programs and grants. YPulse’s Life Milestones and Future Plans report data shows that BIPOC young consumers are more likely to anticipate buying a home this year than their White / non-Hispanic peers. (AFRO News)
