Gen Z is willing to pay more for headphones that support spatial audio tech. While this type of tech isn’t new, it’s quality is important to young consumers who are seemingly always plugged in. YPulse’s Hobbies and Passions report data shows Gen Z’s top three pastimes include 1. Listening to music, 2. Watching YouTube videos, and 3. Playing video games. All of these activities can call for wearing headphones, especially when listening to audio on the go—and Gen Z wants to feel totally immersed in the music/content. According to an Agora survey, about “80% of Gen Z consumers would be willing to pay more for their next pair of headphones if it supports [spatial] technology.” Spatial audio mimics the way sound is heard IRL, making it appealing for virtual reality tech, but also for everyday use. Ultimately, the survey shows that Gen Z “sees the value of spatial audio and is willing to invest in the hardware required to experience it.” (Axios)
