Both Barbie and Polly Pocket are collaborating with Roblox on new virtual experiences. Through October 14th, Polly Pocket is being featured first on the platform’s Livetopia, Roblox’s role-play style gaming sector, where players will be able to “explore Polly Plaza as well as shrink down to explore the iconic Polly Pocket clamshell home.” Starting September 30th through October 28th, Barbie is arriving on the scene in celebration of her Dreamhouse’s 60th anniversary. There, “players will be able to explore different floors of the Dreamhouse” and celebrate Barbie’s many looks throughout the years. This creative game play style virtually replicates the way many Gen Z and Millennials played with their Barbies and Polly Pockets growing up IRL—and scratches their current itch for nostalgia. YPulse research shows young consumers’ affinity for comfort and familiarity are proving to be big drivers of ‘90s and Y2K nostalgia. (Screenrant)
