So many podcasts are making videos along with the audio content—and young consumers are watching. YPulse’s TV and Entertainment report data shows that 64% of Gen Z and Millennials listen to podcasts, and all types of creators are joining in on them, from YouTubers who do makeup while telling a story to gamers who talk all things esports. Now, some podcasts that originated as audio-only are repackaging their shows on YouTube as a secondary entertainment experience to further their reach. YouTube has been the main driver of podcast viewership and “everything is pushing creators towards chat, and chat is now becoming synonymous with what a podcast is.” Meanwhile, “[Spotify] already secured a strong audio-video hybrid figure in Joe Rogan, [and] the company began to formally push their way into the format” as well.
