Facebook is adopting new Discord-like chat rooms to further connect groups on the app. The new feature, Community Chats, allows group organizers the ability to create live chats in Messenger where they can “browse chats organized by announcements, topics, events, and more to connect with group members beyond just feed posts and comments.” The new Community Chats function similarly to Discord, a growing platform that YPulse’s Social Media Monitor report shows over a quarter (28%) of Gen Z currently use. Meanwhile, our survey also shows that 20% of the gen say that they used Facebook in the past but chose to stop. (The Verge)
