Netflix is tapping Gen Z and Millennial nostalgia for their 25th anniversary. This week marks 25 years since the launch of young consumers’ favorite streaming platform—well, when Netflix was just DVDs in envelopes. To celebrate their humble beginnings, Netflix has released a video highlighting their history. The video recaps all of Netflix’s perks and even becomes self-aware about the virality of their content. They touch on how the Stranger Things cast became everyone’s friends and how viewers have never before seen shows similar to Bridgerton or Squid Game. Despite the competition (from all sides), the streaming platform is still coming out on top. YPulse’s Media Consumption report data shows 65% of Gen Z and Millennials watch Netflix weekly or more.
