A new song by producer and rapper Tisakorean is dedicated to McDonald’s static-tasting Sprite. The song “Static” dropped towards the end of August on Instagram and TikTok, and taps the running joke that thousands of young people on social media say McDonald’s Sprite tastes like static. The fast food favorite partnered with Tisakorean, who has over 500K followers on TikTok, to create the viral song–and his two videos using the audio have over 10M views combined. Tisakorean’s creative process combined static sounds, a hip-hop beat, and the hook, “Can I take a sip?” McDonald’s is encouraging Sprite lovers to “share their own spin” on the song with the hashtag #McDonaldsStaticSprite on their socials. But they’re also partnering with other TikTok creators to give the track a boost, including the joyful Rickey Thompson, whose Sprite Static #ad currently has 5.6M views. YPulse research shows how music is a major driver for Gen Z and because of this, more brands are updating their idea of the jingle. (AdAge, Marketing Dive)
