Crosby Studios is working with global AR platform ZERO10 to stage NYFW’s first ever “clothingless” pop-up store. Considered to be a “physical entrance into the metaverse,” the Soho store will open by appointment beginning September 7th and will include a capsule collection of “five digital fashion pieces inspired by ’90s video games and designed by Harry Nuriev.” Crosby Studios is known for their outlandish design pieces, and for this project they’re tapping ZERO10’s AR tech to promote both a sustainable and creative virtual fashion experience playing on the outdated brick and mortar. Post-pandemic, young consumers are mostly shopping online, but still crave in-person experiences, and this new pop-up is encouraging the incorporation of both a physical and digital retail space. YPulse’s Shopping and Retail report data shows 78% of Gen Z and Millennials are interested in AR try-ons. (PAPER)
