BIPOC authors are headlining #BookTok’s most anticipated dark academia themed books for this fall. As a top subculture on TikTok, #BookTok has been pushing for diversity and inclusion among recommended authors—and their efforts are working. The dark academia reads everyone is most excited to dive into (for the cozy fall vibes of course) are written by a diverse group of authors. Babel, or The Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators’ Revolution by R.F. Kuang is the first on BookTokers’ lists. Kuang is a Chinese-American fantasy writer who is most famous for her Poppy War trilogy. Also on their lists is Ace of Spades written by British-Nigerian writer Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé and Katie Zhao’s How We Fall Apart. (Distractify)
