Snap’s new Family Center feature allows parents to monitor who their teens are interacting with. Parents recently shared that they need more help with parental control functions—and after announcing Family Center in the Spring, Snapchat is finally making it easier for them. Parents can create their own Snapchat account (if they don’t have one already) and access the new Family Center in the app. From there, kids can accept their parents’ invitation so there is full transparency. The app wants to enable a function that reflects parent/kid relationships IRL and says their Family Center will emulate “how parents usually know who their teens are friends with and when they are hanging out – but don’t eavesdrop on their private conversations.” While the content of their kids’ conversations will remain private, parents will be able to view who exactly it is they’re Snapping with. Parents will also be able to report any friend to Snap without notifying their child. (Social Media Today)
