Millennial parents are sharing how they do things differently from the way they were raised. Surprisingly, some are revealing they don’t do Santa around christmas time. They treat Santa as “the mascot of the holiday” rather than a real person. One Millennial parent said their family does watch Christmas movies around the holidays, but they equate Santa to a fictional character like Mickey Mouse. The Santa-less family also dished that their four-year-olds saw Santa in a parade and asked if he was real, when the parent replied, “What do you think?” the child shook his head no. While some parents don’t want to ruin the Christmas spirit per se, children may have their doubts sooner than parents think. In terms of asking for presents, YPulse research shows half of Millennial parents tell us their kids just tell them directly what toys / products they want while 23% say their kids still write letters to Santa.
