There is only one thing that will get Gen Z back in office—and no, it’s not snacks. According to a Muse survey of new graduates, roughly “half of Gen Zers report that they’d want to be paid 20% or more than market rate to come into the office full-time.” Entry level workers’ search for more money is fueling their urge to job hop and per a Deloitte report, “pay was the top motivator for both Gen Z and millennials quitting their jobs in the past two years.” Plus, with more remote and flexible work, young workers aren’t viewing their jobs as their identity, making pay simply matter more to them. Especially as a generation who has grown up with economic anxiety, pay is outweighing a lot of other benefits for most. YPulse’s What’s Next For Work trend report found that salary is by far the most important thing when it comes to Gen Z’s perfect job, and the majority say they deserve to make more money. (Fortune)
