Walmart and travel brand Getaway want young consumers to get outdoors this fall. Select remote Getaway outposts will be hosting The General Store by Walmart, which are described as “mini-retail experiences.” These stores will offer “hiking gear, campfire equipment, leisure activities and overlooked essentials such as Burt’s Bees lip balm,” along with “Fuji Film cameras, Loge cast iron skillets and Pendleton outdoor blankets” all sourced from Walmart. Guests who stay at the select properties in the next six months will receive welcome kits that include lots of s’mores; and those who check-in within the next year will receive a complimentary 30-day trial of the Walmart+ subscription service. YPulse’s Travel report data shows 78% of Gen Z and Millennials are interested in travel that involves getting closer to nature/the countryside. (Adweek)
