Pinterest is appealing to Gen Z and Millennials with a new app called Shuffles that helps users create mood boards and collages. YPulse research shows 40% of young females currently use Pinterest, over a quarter of Gen Z use the site to get their style inspo alone, and both Gen Z and Millennials use the app for curating their dream weddings. Though Pinterest has many features (shopping, blogging, videos, etc.), young people mostly use it for creating aesthetic boards that inspire their fashion, home decor, moods, and for planning the vibe for an event or upcoming vacation. Enter Shuffles, the app where “users can build their own collages using Pinterest’s photo library or snap photos of objects they want to include using the camera.” The images can be altered to fit users’ specific design preferences and animations/special effects can be added as well. The final collages can then be shared with friends and even be tampered with to “remix” the creation in a new way. Pinterest is actively altering their “image pinboard and bookmarking site that helps drive e-commerce transactions to adapt to today’s creator-driven era where consumers are prompted to make purchases through video content.” (TechCrunch)
