Ebay U.K. is launching a hub on its site to connect young consumers with Black-owned brands.

Jul 27 2022

Ebay U.K. is launching a hub on its site to connect young consumers with Black-owned brands. After an Ebay survey found that one in five Gen Z consumers want to support brands from underrepresented communities, the ecommerce platform created Black in Bloom, which will house fashion, beauty, and other consumer goods products from Black entrepreneurs. The brands featured on the hub come from graduates of the Black Girl Fest X Ebay Sellers academy, a 12-week program designed to help Black women entrepreneurs grow their businesses on the platform. Through the academy and hub, Ebay hopes to empower 200 Black women-led ecommerce businesses in 2022. YPulse’s WE Causes / Charity & Activism report found that racism and Black Lives Matter are two of the issues young consumers (and Gen Z in particular) care about most—and racism is the No. 1 issue Gen Z says they want brands to get involved in. Meanwhile, our WE Beauty and Personal Care report found that 25% of young Europeans would be more likely to purchase from a brand labeled BIPOC-owned. Young Europeans want to shop their values, and they want brands to help them do it. (Vogue Business)
