And on that note, recent research shows that most Americans feel there aren’t enough Latinos on TV. A survey of American Latinos and non-Latinos on behalf of Campanario Entertainment and the National Hispanic Media Coalition shows that while the majority of all people feel that progress has been made, three in five “still think there are not enough Latino actors and actresses on screen.” Meanwhile, three in four Latinos feel their culture is often stereotyped in the media, and cast in derogatory roles including criminals that speak with a heavy accent, restaurant workers, and gang members. But the majority are hopeful that representation will improve.
