A new docuseries based on the popular RapCaviar Spotify playlist is coming to Hulu. RapCaviar Presents will feature rap’s biggest names—like Tyler, the Creator; Jack Harlow; Doja Cat; Megan Thee Stallion; and Saweetie. The playlist is known for kickstarting the likes of Migos and Lil Uzi Vert, and has grown a following of over 14 million. An accompanying podcast drives the playlist’s success and enlightens listeners on behind the scenes lyrical processes and features special guests. The creator of the playlist, Tuma Basa, specially selects the songs featured on the tracklist and Hulu said, “The eight-episode series will ‘tackle some of today’s most provocative issues through stories of the hip hop visionaries currently ruling the charts and influencing our culture.’” YPulse research shows rap is a top favorite music category among Gen Z and Millennials and the number of Gen Z rap listeners spiked from 34% in 2019 to 55% in 2021. Evidence of the gen’s fandom is seen in their favorite music artists rankings as well. (Engadget, Deadline)
