Gen Z and Millennials are investing in their homes and building their dream backyards. According to a Furniture Today survey, Gen Z is prioritizing outdoor furniture at the top of their shopping lists “with 47% investing in individual seating, 40% buying group seating and 43% purchasing occasional tables.” The survey also reveals that Gen Z was the most likely (27%) to shop for outdoor furnishings at second-hand/thrift stores. Meanwhile, Millennials are buying dining sets, outdoor lighting, and rugs. YPulse’s Shopping for the Home research shows that the majority (69%) of 13-39-year-olds say their ideal home is “a place to relax,” and “calming” is the second most popular response. Since home is the place young consumers are spending most of their time, it makes sense for them to make their outdoor spaces inviting as well. (Furniture Today)
