Reddit is launching a new collectible avatar NFT marketplace that will help independent artists and those not too familiar with crypto. The social platform is allowing users to buy blockchain-based profile pictures at fixed prices. Reddit is also letting those not as accustomed to crypto the option to pay for the NFTs with their credit or debit cards and use the platform’s own wallet product to store them, making buying the digital investment a more approachable process. By releasing 90 designs, “some from communities like r/Comics, r/ProCreate and r/AdobeIllustrator,” the platform is offering independent artists a 50% split in royalties. YPulse’s Fintech report data shows 52% of 13–39-year-olds say even though cryptocurrency crashed, it is still a valuable investment, but only a quarter have currently invested in it, showing that they may be looking for assistance in entering the space.
