Millennials grew up gaming, and as parents they’re turning it into a family activity. According to research from Entertainment Software Association, 77% of parents are now gaming with their kids, “a sharp increase from two years ago.” It’s not hard to surmise that the increase coincides with Millennial parents introducing gaming to their own kids as those little ones age up. YPulse’s own gaming research found 69% of Millennial parents say their kids are gaming on a console weekly or more dads reflect on gaming with their kids. But some of that gaming is happening as a family activity, and qualitatively parents report that games provide bonding, a place for their kids to feel included, learn, and to work together “as a team.” According to one Millennial dad, “My 3-year-old plays games now, I love sharing that with him. It’s an easy way to sit and talk. You can learn a lot from video games: hand-eye coordination and being able to lose.” (NYTimes)
