Geneva is like Slack for Gen Z—and brands are using it to grab young consumers’ attention. The new app is a hub for Gen Z where they can partake in all forms of communication and create niche communities. Any user can set up a “home” in the Geneva app which is a main space users can see and enter other “rooms” from. The different “rooms” are similar to those of chat channels on Slack, audio rooms like those in Clubhouse, or Twitter Spaces, as well as video rooms similar to Zoom or Instagram Live. While there, users can use these spaces to discuss the room’s topic. “Book clubs, creator-led communities, sororities, run clubs and brand ambassador programmes are a few examples of the kinds of “homes” that exist on Geneva.” The app is free to use and there are currently no paid ad tools of any kind, although they plan on launching monetization tools where communities can host paid events within their “homes.” Brands have been using Geneva to build private online clubs to appeal to young consumers and now more brands are jumping in on the app. (Business of Fashion)
