Young consumers are prioritizing their spending for the 4th of July weekend. According to a survey by Numerator, the majority (83%) of Americans will be celebrating this weekend however, 53% say they are anticipating that inflation and high gas prices will negatively impact their plans. The survey found that overall, consumers are cutting back on spending by preparing more budget-friendly meals, using coupons, and buying fewer decorations/fireworks. Yet, alcohol is still a big priority and young consumers specifically are more likely to purchase seltzers and ready to drink cocktails. “Mike’s Hard was the top choice for 43% of young consumers, followed by White Claw (34%), [and] Truly (32%).” The survey also found Millennials are more likely to attend/host a party while Gen X is more likely to go out (in line with their intentions to spend the most out of all the gens).
