College students who don’t complete their degree are struggling to manage debt and are in need of student loan forgiveness. There’s a common misconception that those who don’t finish their degree are “lazy dropouts” but in actuality, the majority of students who don’t graduate on time come from “underserved communities” and according to a college completion rate report, “Those who finish college are more likely to grow up in households with higher income levels and have at least one parent who earned a college degree.” Students who come from families with set plans to pay for their college are more likely to finish (46%) compared to those who don’t have financial plans (26%). YPulse research shows that college enrollment rates are dropping as Gen Z is questioning the value of a college education and our Education report shows 62% of the gen say they don’t need a college degree to be successful.
