This summer, some of the biggest concerts Gen Z and Millennials will be attending are acknowledging mass waste and emphasizing the importance of sustainability.YPulse’s Sustainability Report data shows young consumers are interested in sustainable products and 73% of Gen Z and Millennials agree that brands should be talking to consumers about climate change, and these preferences are starting to change the concerts of some of their favorite musicians. Artists like Coldplay have implemented methods to reduce carbon emissions, and they’re kicking off their show with a short video highlighting the ways their tour has “worked with venues across the world to ensure a cleaner show.” For example, single use plastics have been banned and instead Ball Aluminum Cups will replace them, they also sell custom water bottles, sending proceeds to ClientEarth, and their LED wristbands are made of plant-based/compostable materials. With thousands of fans in the audience, the band also incorporates kinetic flooring and stationary bikes that power the electricity needed on stage. Other artists like Billie Eilish and Shawn Mendes are tapping REVERB, an environmental org that introduces free water stations, battery recycling, donation boxes, and other eco-friendly products/merch for concert-goers. (UPROXX)
