New avatars on TikTok transform users into a Bitmoji-like animated version of themselves.YPulse’s The Metaverse research found that 48% of Gen Z has created an avatar for themselves on social media, and now their favorite app joins Snap, Facebook, and Instagram in adding avatars to their realm of features. TikTok’s avatars will allow creators a fresh way to share content and “showcase their individuality on the app.” Users will now find “TikTok Avatars” in the effects section, where they can click on pre-designed templates or select “New” to create a custom avatar from scratch, with a wide range of hairstyles, outfits, and skin tones to choose from. TikTok’s goal is to further their inclusivity, and is working alongside their Creator Diversity Collective to ensure they are representative of all people in their massive global community. Creators will be able to record themselves as their avatar or feature a mini version alongside any video. (TechCrunch)
