BTS visited the White House to raise awareness about anti-Asian hate crimes.To mark the end of AAPI Heritage Month, BTS visited the White House last week to speak with President Joe Biden about how to put a stop to the rise of hate crimes against Asians and Asian Americans. The K-pop group is one of Gen Z and Millennials’ favorite music actsfans quickly showed their support for the band and the AAPI community by causing the hashtag #BTSatTheWhiteHouse to trend on Twitter and social media, and of course, many fans shared memes. Their fandom (dubbed the BTS Army) also quickly denounced Fox News correspondent Tucker Carlson after he insulted the band on his show. Previously, Olivia Rodrigo visited the White House to discuss the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19 with President Biden showing that young pop stars partnering with the government clearly seems like a way to raise awareness about serious issues among Gen Z.
